Naira Marley is a popular Nigerian Singer and song-writer, whose official name happen to be Azeez Fashola. The singer who was reported to have derived his name from that of the popular Jamaican singer Bob Marley. He also said it in an interview on the TV that he had always Naira Marley loved and admire Bob Marley and it’s from him he also got his idea of having a dreadlock. The artist sings in three main languages which are English, Yoruba, and Pidgin and has an Afro-beat and hip-hop style of music.

Naira Marley was given birth to in the family of Fashola on the 9th day of May 1994 in Agege, Lagos State, Nigeria. Naira Marley had his primary school education in Lagos state before he moved to Peckham, South London, England, where he studied his secondary education at the Porlock hall school and then later moved to Walworth School, where he had completed his secondary education. He then later went to the Peckham Academy where he studied business and had a distinction upon graduation from the school. From there, he also went to Crossways College, which is now Christ the King Sixth Form College, where he studied the course, business law.

Since a very youthful age, Naira Marley had started making moves to become an MC (Master of Ceremony), and also was making the moves to be a voice-over artist (i.e a background tone or cover sound provider). But the game changed in 2014.

In 2014, Naira Marley was able to discover that the kind of passion he has for music is extremely extraordinary, and with that kind of passion, it will indeed take him a great height in the music industry. He was encouraged by his close peer to go after his music career.

Naira Marley released his first debut studio track in 2015, where Max Twigz was found featured, and he titled the song “Marry Juana”. Later that year, Naira Marley took to the studio to record his first debut studio album which he titled Dance which he released also in 2015.

Naira Marley kept on working on his music career and in December 2017, Naira Marley dropped his major hit song which went so viral within the country. The song was titled “Issa Goal” and the YBNL boss, Olamide and Lil Kesh were both featured in the song. The song was remixed by Naira Marley in collaboration with Olamide, Lil Kesh, Simi, Falz, and Slimcase and was used alongside Olamide and Phyno’s “Dem go hear am” as the official theme song for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA world cup, Russia.

On the 3rd day of May 2019, a few days after Naira Marley had dropped the EP video of the song “Am I A Yahoo Boy” where he was seen vibing with Zlatan Ibile, Naira Marley released the official song in collaboration with Zlatan. The song was produced by the popular afro genre beatmaker, Rexxie. A few hours later, after the song has been dropped, Naira Marley, was arrested by EFCC, alongside Zlatan Ibile and three others. Zlatan and the other three were released three days after the incident but Naira Marley, who was charged with the offense of 11 different cases of internet fraud at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Three weeks after Naira Maley’s arrest, he pleaded not been guilty at the Federal High Court and a bail hearing was set for him on the 30th day of May 2019.

Naira Marley was later then released from jail on the 14th day of June 2019 after he had been granted a bail of 2 million naira and he released another music track that day which he titled “Why”.

Naira Marley released his second studio debut album on the 18th day of December 2019 which comprised of six (6) tracks and where he collaborated with some artists whose names are Mayorkun, Cblvck, and Young John. The album was produced by three different producers in the industry; Killertunes, Rexxie, and Studio Magic.

Naira Marley is the CEO and founder of the Nigerian based music record label, Marlian Records. The release of the label was first announced on the 30th day of December 2019, during the first “Marlian Fest” concert-show which took place at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos State, Nigeria.
