Rema was born into the family of Ikubor on 1st day of May 2000, in Benin City, Edo state as the second child of the family with an elder brother.
Rema studied both his primary and secondary education in his hometown, Benin City and as for now, there are no records of Rema attending any University or tertiary institution.
Rema was said to have come from a low-class family and really went through a lot to take care of himself and his mother after the death of his brother and father which happened to have taken place consistently within a very short interval to each other.

Rema from a very young age had started developing his passion and love for music as a career and while he was in secondary school, he established a music band with his friend Alpha P, which was named RnA.

Rema was discovered by D’prince to be a very good and talented singer after a freestyle he had made for the boss of the Jozing record.
